Tegucigalpa

TegucigalpaTegucigalpa is the capital of Honduras, and it used to be a miner´s town. For several years, the capital was Comayagua, a colonial city built over a fertile valley, but the history tells us, that Dr. Marco Aurelio Soto, former President of Honduras, married a woman from Tegucigalpa, and she was looked down by the high society from the capital, Comayagua. For that reason, Dr. Soto made the decision of change the capital to Tegucigalpa. After that, Tegucigalpa became not only a huge miner center, but also the capital, and it´s name, comes from the Nahuatl tongue, and means "mountain of silver"
